A life in performance

Nicky has performed at leading London cabaret and theatre venues including The Crazy Coqs, The Pheasantry and Wilton’s Music Hall, as well as internationally in New York, Zimbabwe, Norway and the Maldives. She has served as Associate Artist for Cabaret at Wilton’s Music Hall and as a Patron of the London Festival of Cabaret.

Her debut solo show, Nicky Gayner’s Empty Nest, opened at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2014, followed by a sold-out residency at The Pheasantry and a performance at New York’s Metropolitan Room.

Hooray for Love debuted at Wilton’s Music Hall in 2016 before a 20-performance Edinburgh run and an autumn season at The Pheasantry. Since 2018, Unashamedly Christmas has brought festive cabaret to venues including The Pheasantry, The Crazy Coqs and Wilton’s Music Hall.

In 2024, Musical Memories was praised by Cabaret Scenes as a “tender ode to nostalgia.” In 2026, Nicky joined musical director Tom Wakeley and Broadway composer, songwriter and producer David Friedman to create Listen to Her Heart: A Celebration of Nancy LaMott.

Nicky trained in the Meisner technique with The Impulse Company. Her screen work includes the leading role of Louisa in Provenance, directed by Michael Gilhooly for The Impulse Company in association with HumanKind Films, and the voice role of Amanda Fisher in Rawaa Barnes’s multi-award-winning short film The Bench. She welcomes enquiries for further stage and screen work.
